Happy 43rd birthday, Singapore! Have you sent your well wishes to our Motherland? :)
It was heartening and delighting to see our people celebrating the nation's 43rd birthday in our own traditional way. Some would have squeezed in the 27,000 seater multi-purpose facility at Marina Bay, while some chose to look for a high ground so that they could get a glimpse of the parade or have a good look at the displays of the celebration. The rest would choose to avoid the "rubbing of shoulders-to-shoulders" and be satisfied with their comfortable sofas, LCDs or plasmas at home.
I have taken a different approach this year. Leaving behind my "comfy" sofa for the "fuss and buzz" at Marina. Situated ourselves at a spot where we could comfortably take photos of the pyrotechnics display, the three of us took out the "barang barang" we needed for the big show. So do enjoy the pictures which Kean Wah and me have taken. :) Femy, our welfare officer for the day, has been a great help too - passing tissues and holding onto our bags for us while we stayed focus on the pyrotechnics displays that appeared before our eyes. :)
It was a short but an interesting and exciting celebration though. To mark the end of the celebration, we had decided to stand 165 metres above ground overlooking our nation's birthday bash venue and make a first expedition (not my first but it is for the other two) to the world's largest giant observation wheel - SINGAPORE FLYER.
Celebrating one's birthday also needs creativity... have you already thought of some plans for next year's 44th birthday celebration? What would you do next year? Stay home and lie on your "comfy" sofa or be adventurous and explore some witty and wacky ideas to celebrate our Motherland's big day? Don't forget about me ok? :)
My hope and plan for 2009 Birthday Bash will be to book a hotel that faces the facility and display. Invite a few of my family and friends to celebrate the big day together.
