A change of Status Quo over weekend

It has been a marvellous weekend. I had my burden lifted off my shoulder when I expressed my feelings to someone. So now my status quo is 'in prayer'. I was able to swim and tan slightly after church before I met my 'long-lost' friends from Indonesia on Sunday.

"A fruitful weekend should not be determined by how many things you have done in a day but rather should be measured by how much time you have spent on a particular thing and how much has been achieved with the initial purpose. "

Weekends should never be as rush as your weekdays. That is how Europeans, Americans or even Australians spend their weekends. They would engage themselves in hobbies and picnics so that they spend quality time with their beloved ones. Tell you a secret that is my dream family style. :P

That's all for now. Till next post stay tuned. :)

Sailing through your weekend

Itinerary for the day:
8.30 a.m. - 12 noon At school to welcome Minister of Finance, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam
12 noon - 1.00 p.m. Personal administration for trainings and workshops
1.00 p.m. - 4.00 p.m. Personal body maintenance :P
4.00 p.m. - 5.00 p.m. Take cover from rain
5.00 p.m. - 11.00 p.m. Trekking and Movie Time

What a fruitful Saturday! A tiring sailing journey but was great and excellent. I started my sail at Anderson Primary then harboured at home. That rejuvenated and energized me to go for an extra mile at Henderson Waves and Alexandra Arch. It was marvellous to walk through the cooling woods after a downpour.

You should also sail to catch a movie. We caught a movie "Red Cliff" at Balestier Shaw Plaza. Two learning pointers from the movie:
1) Plan and strategize to succeed, be witty to be ready for changes.
(For those taking any tests, challenges or examinations very soon - plan and strategize your moves earlier but do not take full control of the situation as flexibility will allow your wittiness to react when unexpected surprises come your way.)
2) Co-operate with your allies to win the battle in full force.
(We always face enemies in our sailing journey, be it a hill, mountain or windy valleys. Don't forget we are not sailing alone. Gather all your resources and manpower to defeat the hardest enemies. Be in sync is the key for cooperation with your allies.)

So continue to enjoy your sailing journey. Don't sail blindly... :P

National Day Video Competition - Behind The Scenes

What are your wishes for your hometown?

Hi there! It has been a great week in my in-camp training. It was a fruitful and exciting period for me as I was assigned to take up a new role. :) By God's grace, I was able to clear my IPPT. Did you have a fun and exciting week while I was learning and improving my skills to protect the country?

Let's give thumbs up to the Ministry of Defence for keeping the "greeny" soldiers at the highest state of mind to protect our hometown. What's more? For organising the biggest show annually - National Day Parade (NDP). We will be celebrating our Motherland's 43rd birthday - Celebrating the Singapore Spirit very soon. Have you read the recent newspaper articles about the outlooks for Singapore? What are your thoughts? What are your dreams for our homeland?

My wish is to see my homeland to be place for dreams to become reality; an unique place where all can call it home even for those who are away for a long time.

This reminded me of my time at Brisbane where I celebrated my first overseas National Day with a group of student internship mates during a chilly August 2002. The feeling of home was near as overseas Singaporeans celebrated Motherland's birthday together but yet we knew we were far away from our home. That was how it brought us closer. The celebration made us missed home even more. :)

Try it then you will be able to sing each year's NDP theme song with feeling. The song that really brought the Brisbane feeling very much was "My Island Home" - NDP 2006 theme song. Enjoy watching this year's NDP show which is filled with pyrotechnics displays. :)

What Are Your Dream(s)?

How was sailing this week? Was it better than last week? Has your role of a captain been smooth sailing? Are you heading the right way - heading for the destination you are supposed to reach?

Do not be discouraged if your goals for the week were not fulfilled as what you wanted it to be.
Continue to let your space and creativity to evolve so that your dreams will flow naturally.
So do you happen to have dream(s)/passion/ambition(s)? If you do not, then you should start dreaming. Be it a small or big dream, for some people it carries for a lifetime and for some are a short term to bring them one step further, do not lose track of this beacon. It could turn out to be something big in the later part of your lifetime. :)

Personally I had three dreams/passion/ambition:
(a1) to be a teacher
(a2) to be working for an IT company
(b) to be a tour guide - travel
(c) to open my own cafe

I really thank God for fulfilling my first dream which is to be a teacher, and what is more, I'm an IT teacher - a combination of a1 and a2. Oh! You will never believe what I am about to tell you. My current job allows me to travel also which fulfills Point B. For now, I am thankful, contented and excited in what God has done and will do in my life.

So do not give up in your sailing journey and anchor at the destination. Your job is to get people to work together with you to reach for this dream/passion/ambition of yours. SAIL TOWARDS IT !! :)
